Xe Bang Fai Cave is located within the lush national protected area and limestone karst landscape of Bualapha District, Khammouane Province, Lao PDR, approximately 145 kilometers away from Thakhek town. It is a massive river cave of significant geological importance. Over millions of years, the Xe Bang Fai River has eroded the limestone mountains, carving out a gigantic cavern system stretching several kilometers long. Although local villagers have known and used it as a travel route for a long time, the cave truly gained international recognition among global explorers from the 1990s onward.
