A turquoise river embraced by rolling hills.
Tha Falang is one of the most beautiful and renowned natural tourist attractions in Khammouane Province, located in Ban Thok, Thakhek District. Tha Falang is located about 15 to 16 kilometers away from Thakhek town. This destination captivates travelers with its cool, refreshing atmosphere, crystal-clear emerald waters, and majestic limestone cliffs.
The name "Tha Falang" dates back to the French colonial era. Historically, this site was a favorite retreat for French explorers and officials stationed in Laos, who frequented the area to swim, relax, and enjoy the scenery due to its serene, resort-like environment. As a result, local villagers dubbed the area "Tha Falang" (The French Pier/Dock), a name that remains in use today.
Once a hidden retreat, Tha Falang has now been developed into a significant community-based tourism site, featuring well-organized seating areas, restaurants, and various recreational activities.
