The event was officially opened through cooperation between the Provincial Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Provincial Department of Industry and Commerce on February 21, 2024.
The event was officially opened on the evening of February 21, 2024, at the Phra That Sikhottabong stupa grounds in Thakhek District. The opening ceremony was presided over by Mr. Vanxay Pongsavanh, Governor of Khammouane Province, Mr. Bounmy Phimmasone, President of the Provincial People's Council, and Mr. Keoudon Boutsingkhon, Vice Governor and Chairman of the Festival Organizing Committee.
Mr. Vanthon Boutsomphan, Deputy Head of the Provincial Department of Industry and Commerce, stated the objectives and announced the opening approval. Subsequently, Mr. Thaiyaphone Singthong, President of the Provincial Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Mr. Keoudon Boutsingkhon reported on the preparations and officially declared the fair open.
This exhibition and sale aims to implement the Governor's instruction (No. 06/JK) on promoting local production and consumption. It focuses on encouraging local producers to diversify their products to meet market demands and raising public awareness about supporting provincial products.
The fair features ODOP (One District One Product) items and potential products from 10 districts, totaling 175 items valued at 351,357,000 Kip. Participants include 3 government sectors and 265 business units from across the province. The expected cash flow during the event is estimated at over 10 billion Kip.
