Art and Literature Performances, Lam Phanya Mahaxai Competition, Khene Playing Competition, Fashion Show, and Miss Aphon of 9 Ethnic Groups Competition at the 2024 That Sikhottabong Festival

The organization of art and literature performances, the Lam Phanya Mahaxay contest, the Khaen playing contest, a fashion show, and the Miss Ethnic Costume contest for 9 ethnic groups at the Phra That Sikhotabong Festival 2024 was held from the evening of February 22-24, 2024. The event featured 6 main activities: art and literature performances, the Lam Phanya Mahaxay contest, the Khaen playing contest, an ethnic costume fashion show, the Miss Ethnic Costume contest, and Molam Lueang groups. This event saw participation from art groups representing all 10 districts and schools within the provincial municipality. For the Lam Mahaxay contest, initially, 7 districts were ready to send Molam performers and 7 Khaen players. However, on the day of the event, 6 Molam performers and 5 Khaen players actually participated, as contestants from some districts were not prepared. For the Miss Ethnic Costume contest for 9 ethnic groups, contestants were selected from schools around the province and one representative from Nongbok district, totaling 17 participants. A selection committee was appointed to conduct the screening on February 19, 2024, at the Thakek District Military Command, from which 9 contestants were selected. Overall, during the three-day event, there were more than 50 competition and performance items, with over 250 participants in the contests and shows.
Specifically, on the evenings of February 22-23, the Lam Phanya Mahaxay and Khaen playing contests, among other events, were successfully completed. The event was honored by the presence of Mr. Vansay Phongsayvanh, Governor of Khammouane Province; Mr. Bounmy Phimmasone, President of the Khammouane Provincial People's Council; Mr. Xaysomboun Souvandala, Head of the Provincial Department of Information, Culture and Tourism; along with various provincial leaders, leaders from the provincial Information, Culture and Tourism sector, technical staff, performing artists, contestants from different sections, and a large number of local visitors who came to enjoy the event.
For the Lam Phanya Mahaxay contest, the 1st prize winner, Mr. Khamphan from Hinboun District, received 3 million LAK. The 2nd prize winner, Ms. Phengsi from Thakek District, received 2 million LAK. The 3rd prize winner, Mr. Samlanxay from Nongbok District, received 1.5 million LAK.
For the Khaen playing contest, the 1st prize winner, Mr. Sengchan from Nongbok District, received 3 million LAK. The 2nd prize winner, Mr. Kam from Yommalath District, received 2 million LAK. The 3rd prize winner, Mr. Sonchaleun from Thakek District, received 1.5 million LAK.
The prizes for the 1st place winners of both the Khaen playing and Lam Mahaxay contests were honorably presented by Mr. Vansay Phongsayvanh, Governor of Khammouane Province. The prizes for the 2nd place winners of both the Khaen playing and Lam Mahaxay contests were presented by Mr. Bounmy Phimmasone, President of the Khammouane Provincial People's Council. The prizes for the 2nd place winners of both the Khaen playing and Lam Mahaxay contests were presented by Mr. Vongphet Chitpanya, Deputy Secretary of the Khammouane Provincial Party Committee. Additionally, encouragement funds were presented to the participating art and literature groups by Mr. Keoudone Butsingkhone, Deputy Governor of Khammouane Province.
