Tham Xiang Liap is one of the most beautiful caves in Khammouane Province, featuring a stunning entrance that stands 30 meters high.
The name "Xiang" refers to a man who has formerly been ordained as a novice monk, while "Liap" means to walk around or skirt along the edges. According to local legend, a young man named "Xiang" fell in love with the daughter of a hermit. He spent his time wandering around the area, searching for an opportunity to sneak into the cave and take her away.
The cave is located approximately 14 kilometers northeast of Thakhek district along Route 12, situated near Xiang Liap village.
